Risk and security specialist Pilgrims Group Limited has been awarded a five-year contract to secure six premises across the UK for broadcaster ITV. Locations include the new studios and set of the popular TV series, Coronation Street, as well as the set and forthcoming visitor experience for Emmerdale.

The £1.5 million per annum deal was won following a four-way pitch against other security companies, including the incumbent. Pilgrims can potentially see this five-year contract increase to ten years, providing it meets key performance targets.

Under the terms of the contract, Pilgrims will protect two premises in Manchester plus sites in Leeds, Norwich, Gateshead and Belfast. The new contract is of strategic importance to Pilgrims, putting the company in a strong position to bid for work with media and other organisations operating sites nearby.

Services provided include Manned Guarding, Event Security, Keyholding, Alarm Response, Training, Information & Intelligence and Consultancy. Pilgrims will be responsible for the operation of Control Rooms, CCTV monitoring, remote management of the wider ITV estate and maintaining access and egress to and from sites. Pilgrims understands that ITV is a dynamic workplace and will ensure that its staff, visitors and contractors alike can operate safely within a secure environment without impacting on business as usual.

David Freear, Pilgrims Group’s chief operating officer comments: “ITV liked that we are a total security solution provider able to assist them as a global business partner and that we are able to deliver something bespoke which merges with their creative and open culture. They were impressed with our commitment to the officers on the ground, our training, innovation and the technology platforms we have developed.”
