Danny Moody, former head of security at the City’s iconic building, The Gherkin, at 30 St Mary Axe, has joined Pilgrims Group as strategic development manager for London. He will be responsible for enhancing the performance of the company’s existing portfolio while raising Pilgrims profile in the capital and exploring new business opportunities.
With a background in corporate and premises security, including over 11 years at The Gherkin, plus roles at The London Eye and the London Stock Exchange, Danny will be closely involved with the progress of Pilgrims contract with global professional services firm, PwC, which the company won earlier this year.
“Pilgrims appealed to me because they are different to most of the other security companies I know,” says Danny. “They have a great deal of specialist security experience within their management team and, in addition to manned guarding, provide close protection, travel security training and risk consultancy and manage contracts in high risk countries. There is a gap in the London market for a company with their knowledge, which draws on the expertise of their ex-services personnel, especially with the continued threat of terror attacks. For me, this is an opportunity to combine my knowledge with those specialist areas of the business.”
David Freear, chief operating officer of Pilgrims Group, says, “Danny brings an in-depth understanding of the challenges facing corporate clients in London, including the security of premises and IT systems. Following our success in winning several significant corporate contracts, he has the ideal set of skills to complement the team at Pilgrims and to identify ways in which we can add value to the activities of our City clients.”
